初期科室很简单：手术科、诊断服务科、麻醉科，还有1973年独立出来的护理协调部门，主要提供急诊、心脏护理、手术和康复服务，床位也从最初计划的61张，扩展到355张。为了贴合老人需求，医院还引入了家庭护理项目，把顶层空间改造成健康教育等多功能区域——本质就是“老人需要什么，就补什么”。
